North Beds School
of Tai Chi Chuan

Tai Chi is a gentle form of exercise that combines slow movements with breathing and focus. It’s often described as “meditation in motion” and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Practising regularly can help improve balance, flexibility, and posture, while also reducing stress and promoting a sense of calm.

About Us
Based in Olney, North Beds School of Tai Chi Chuan offers beginner courses, whenever possible with two instructors. Griff and Kevin have been training and teaching as part of the Tai Chi Foundation for many years, starting out as beginners themselves. They understand what it's like to be new and create a welcoming, supportive space to learn at your own pace. Their goal is to help you build your confidence, and enjoy the process.
Griff Steer
While working away from home in 2004, Griff discovered a local Tai Chi class in St Albans and was quickly captivated by its depth and calming power. The slow, mindful movements brought unexpected relaxation and internal awareness, leading to a teaching journey that began in 2006 and continues today, with a lasting passion for sharing the practice and deepening his own understanding.

Kevin first encountered Tai Chi during a martial arts demonstration in 1988 and was deeply moved by its gentle, flowing movements. A decade later, he joined the St Albans School of Tai Chi Chuan, beginning a lifelong journey of cultivating body-mind awareness and connecting with the essence of nature through the practice.
